It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Zackary James Sawyer who passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2023, at the age of 31. He is the dearly loved son of Michael and Mary Sawyer. Loving brother of Amanda (Travis) Riley, Michael (Tara Cowin) Sawyer, Jasper (Chelsea) Sawyer, Jacob (Samantha) Sawyer, Annie (Thomas Wilson) Sawyer, and Jeramy Sawyer. Uncle of Holden, Vincent, Viera, Noah, Kolbe, and Emmett. He is also lovingly remembered by his girlfriend Konane Williams. Zackary will also be greatly missed by his grandmother Helen Dettman, aunts and uncles, cousins, best friend Chelsey McBride, friends and mates from Ontario, across the country and internationally.
Zackary was a great blessing in our lives. He was creative, adventurous, and a very hard worker. He was always keeping busy doing things whether it be learning about something or helping someone out. He cherished his time living in British Columbia and Alberta and enjoyed staying for a time in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Zack loved rock-hounding and loved sharing his finds with family and friends. He loved camping, hiking, kayaking and canoeing. He also enjoyed many games of croquet in the backyard with his family. Zack had great times with his niece and nephews and was the biggest kid of them all. He had a special place for animals in his heart. He loved all the family pets and when someone came over, he would say hi and then ask right away if they brought their dog. He especially loved Konane’s dog, Archie.
It’s hard saying goodbye to Zack. He has made such an impact in our lives and it is comforting knowing that even though he isn’t with us physically anymore, we carry him with us wherever we go. Every time we think of him we can smile. Thank you for leaving behind so many happy memories, Zackary.
