Edward “Ed” Schneider passed away peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at 79 years of age. Son of the late Elfriede (nee Schneider) Rauh and Gerhard Rauh and beloved husband of Anne Schneider (nee Menard). Dear father of Siegfried Schneider and Eric Schneider. Cherished grandfather of Hannah and Emily. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, family and friends. Edward grew up in Berlin, Germany and later spent time working in Denmark before immigrating to Canada in 1967. He fell in love with everything that Canada had to offer including the freedom, space, beautiful landscapes and quality of life of our great country. He moved to the Cobourg area one year later, where he found the love of his life, Anne. They got married soon after that, raised a family and built a long and happy life together. Cremation with a Memorial Celebration of Life Visitation at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Saturday, September 7th from 12:30-3:30pm with Parish Prayers at 3:30pm. Family interment at Cobourg Union Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in Edward’s memory to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
