We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Thomas Minto on April 1, 2024 at the age of 39 at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. He leaves behind his beautiful daughter, Zoe. Thomas will also be greatly missed by his mom, Dee Haggith of Wallaceburg and his dad and stepmom, George Minto and Therese Beneteau of Amherstburg. His brothers, Scott (Tina) and Jeremy (Amanda) will mourn the passing of Thomas, as will his stepsister Jill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and working to fix bikes and model cars. His favourite person was Grandma Minto. He will be missed always and never forgotten.

My dad loved fishing and found colouring relaxing. His favourite TV show was “That 70’s Show” and his favourite music was 50 Cent and the song “My House”. Dad liked to take me and Colten on walks on the tracks to look for rocks with cool colours. He liked teaching us how to ride and fix bikes and quads. He liked to take us riding. Dad liked to have bonfires with us on nice nights. Our favourite thing to eat was Caesar salad and English muffin pizza. I miss those times with dad.

Dear Tommy,
How I miss you / I keep waiting for you to come in the back door, but that isn’t going to happen anymore. It doesn’t feel real, like I’m waking up from a nightmare, then I realize it really happened – that it’s real. LIfe can be so hard, so sad, so mean. My heart is shattered and life will never be the same. I miss your smile, and yes even your wise cracks when you laugh at something I’d done. Don’t get me wrong, you sure knew how to push my buttons at times (often) but I couldn’t stay mad for long. Above everything else I was proud of your BIG HEART. You helped so many single moms and their kids. You said you did this because you realized how hard your mom had struggled as a single mom. You also had a love of animals which we both share. My mother used to say to me “when your kids are little they step on your toes, and when your kids are big they step on your heart”. My heart feels like it’s been trampled on. I don’t know how to get through this. Rest peacefully son. Don’t worry about Zoe, I’m here for her. To some people – kharma – if you don’t know what it is, look it up.
