It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Johnston (nee McGivern), of Chatham, at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, on October 31st, 2023 at the age of 71, surrounded by loved ones. Rose was born October, 19th, 1952 in Chatham. She was the daughter of the late Rose (nee O’Hara) & John McGivern. Dear wife of John Johnston for 47 years. Loving mother of Byron (Lisa) Johnston and Brandon (Amy) Johnston. She was an amazing grandma to her 5 grandchildren; Nevia Johnston, Mia Johnston, Logan Johnston, Riley Johnston and Jayden Johnston. Dear sister of John McGivern, Theresa (Mike) McDonald, and Bernadette (Brent) Moor. Sister-in-law of, Rita McGivern, Laura McGivern, Leona McGivern and Karen Lauterbach. Rose is predeceased by her sister Mary Seney and brothers Pat, Mike, Francis and Hugh McGivern and is also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law Jacob and Margaret Johnston, and brothers-in-law Ernie Lauterbach and Neil Seney. Rose will also be forever loved and remembered by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the following people/organizations who helped to make the unbearable, bearable: special friend Winnie Grainger, Friends in Erieau, Dr.Samantha Chandrasena, Dr. Gina Roaker, Dr. Elizabeth Haddad, all staff at the Thamesview Family Health Team of Blenheim and Dresden. Nurse Jackie Wise and staff, community EMS,Motion Specialties, ProResp especially Ken Myers, Chatham-Kent Hospice and staff especially, Karri Sally, Claire, Mike, Sue, Lola, Olivia, Amanda, Cindy, Meghan, Daisy, Misty Blue, Annya, Joe, Karen, Rachael, and Millison, and many more amazing members of the Hospice team.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and Interment will take place at a later date. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to please consider the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
