It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a wonder woman, Pamela Dooley, on January 15, 2024 at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born on December 3, 1932 to the late Edward and Agnus Toghill. Predeceased by husband Stanley Kevin Dooley (1985). Beloved mother to Jan Nottingham (Richard), Kevin, Angie Kelly, Christine Dooley, Susan Pongricz (Jim), Annette Klassen (Frank), Patricia Macpherson, and Elisabeth Lenting (Jack). Loving Nanny many to grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her many close friends, extended family, many nieces and nephews, including special niece Joy and dear friend Kathy.
She was our mom but, to all who knew and loved her, she was affectionately known as “Nanny”. Nanny was a busy lady. She was artistic, a painter, and a seamstress. She built things and created many beautiful crafts from scraps. She loved music, taught herself how to play the keyboard and, in her midlife years, belonged to a dance club where she would dance and make beautiful gowns for the gala – with shoes to match, of course. Nanny was a collector of many things and, if you needed something, you could be sure she had it. She enjoyed taking road trips to the Belleville area, Wasaga Beach, and even B.C. to visit family, with Trisha always at the wheel. Her most adventurous trip was when she immigrated from England to Canada in 1967. She boarded an ocean liner along with her seven youngest children and set sail across the Atlantic Ocean for eight long days. Wow! A truly amazing mom! Most of all, Nanny loved her large family with lots of little ones around. She was a treasured part of our family. She loved and was loved and we will miss her greatly.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
