Norma Jean Gardiner of Tilbury and formerly of Chatham, passed away in her 94th year at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday September 30th, 2023. Cherished daughter of the late Henry and Vera Gardiner. Beloved sister of the late Eileen (Don) Ivison. Loving aunt of Robert (Anna) Ivison, Jayne Ivison-Broughton, and Miriam Ivison, and loving great aunt of Jennifer Ivison (Don McCrie of Cochrane, AB), Becky Broughton, Robert Broughton, David Ivison, Mary Anne Ivison. Norma is fondly remembered by her good friend Gudrun. They spent many Saturday dinners out in their favourite restaurants. She will be remembered for her volunteer work at St. Andrew’s Residence Chatham and support of the St. Andrew’s Auxiliary. Fondly known as “Aunt Norma” to not only the Ivison family, cousin Robert and Beth Stewart family, but our Chatham Kent community. Aunt Norma leaves a legacy. For 43 years, she worked tirelessly for the Ontario Court of Justice, in Chatham. She spent 43 years making the courthouse work, including time as Deputy Sherriff. She was known for her willingness to help others and her generosity was not lost on her co-workers. The family would like to thank Tilbury Manor and also CKHA 4B unit for the compassion and care Aunt Norma received. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington Street West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Thursday October 5th, 2023, with visiting from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, and from 10 am to 11 am on Friday October 6th, 2023, with the funeral service to follow at 11 am in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Greg Simpson officiating.
