At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Monday October 16th, 2023, Mr. Donald Sutherland of Chatham passed away in his 94th year. Cherished son of the late Donald and Beatrice Sutherland. Beloved husband of 67 years and best friend of Mary (Beecraft). Loving father of Karen Paterson (Ronan) of Mount Bridges, Margie Henderson (Robert) of London, and Donald Sutherland (Alison) of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Madelaine Paterson (Jonathon Amsden), Ian Paterson (Mia Burton), Brett Henderson, and Kyle Henderson. Adored great grandfather of Elizabeth Amsden and Layton Demars. Survived by his in-laws Tom and Barbara Beecraft, Bonnie Pritchard, Marlene and Roy Lamoure, John & Janice Beecraft, Catherine Beecraft, Lynn and Al DeVries, Jim and Carol Beecraft, Lawrence Harrison, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Cecile and Helene Sutherland, Babe and Shirley Sutherland, Ross and Bertha Sutherland, Peter and Gertrude Sutherland, and Arlene and Vern Stroud.
Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Saturday October 21st, 2023, with visiting from 11 to 1 pm with reflections to be shared at 1 pm. Cremation has taken place. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation and Chatham Outreach for Hunger.
