It is with great sadness we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Bruno Charlebois, with loved ones at his side, on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Born in Chatham, October 13, 1951 and raised in Pain Court, son of the late Bernard and Therese Charlebois. Loving husband of Diane (nee Kerluck). Cherished Papa of Cynthia (Derek). Proud Papa of Anabelle and Maddy. Brother of Marie-Catherine (Richard), France (Adrian), and his late brother Pierre who he dearly missed for 30 years. Brother-in-law of Bob (Melody), Deb (Jim) and the late Judy (John). Beloved Uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Bruno loved music, playing the guitar, and especially enjoyed singing in choirs, starting at a young age as a member of Sing Out Kent for many years. He enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. A fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Red Wings since he was very young. He was a fantastic chef creating delicious meals, sharing his talent with family and friends. Bruno and Diane lived in the same home in Pain Court since November 1973, just short of 50 years together. They enjoyed boating together as a family in Lake St. Clair for many years. Then once retired they both loved cruising the roads on day trips in their convertible. Proudest Papa of their beautiful daughter Cynthia “Kid” who brought such joy and happiness when she completed their family. No one was more overjoyed when son-in-law Derek joined the family, who shared many of the same interests in classic cars, anything mechanical, and building a deck together this past summer. Then he became a Papa with two of the most adorable granddaughters Anabelle “Bob – the Minion” and Maddy “M&M.” They both had him in the palm of their hands the minute he held them in his arms. He was always so happy to see them when they came over for sleepovers, playing and joking with them gave him such joy. Bruno truly loved spending time with both sides of the family.
Bruno was a mechanic for many years, and for the last twenty years he was a transport driver. In retirement he received great satisfaction in growing a garden and proudly maintaining a beautiful yard.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
