Obituary of Alfred Klinard
A resident of Chatham, Alfred Klinard peacefully passed away at Riverview Gardens on December 29, 2023 at the age of 94.
Born in Susville, France, Alfred was the son of Jan and Franciszka (née Sieprawska) Klinjart.
Beloved husband of 73 years to Lucette (née Cottin, 2015).
Alfred was the cherished father of Brigitte (Chris) Davis of Chatham, Ontario.
Loving Poppee to Jen Merritt (Mark Bisson) and their son Alfred Bisson-Merritt of Guernsey, Drake Merritt (Kaitlin Johnston) and their children Duncan Merritt and Jackson Merritt of Woodstock. Alfred is predeceased by their father Brian Merritt (1991).
Alfred is survived by his sister Antoinette Grzebien. Predeceased by siblings Henry, Wanda, and Marion.
He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, the Dumay family, neighbours, friends and extended family.
Alfred worked at Moczik Tool and Die until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed camping with his wife Lucette and especially enjoyed traveling through the US. He was a championship level trap shooter, competing in Ontario and Ohio, and was a longtime member of Dresden Sportsmens Club. Alfred practiced Tai Chi for decades and was the oldest member at the Chatham Tai Chi Club. In his spare time he tended to his vegetable garden. He was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in eating.

As per Alfred’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations made in memory of Alfred to the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent or Chatham-Kent Health Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
