Walter Norman Kadwell July 10, 1928-August 27, 2024
It is with sadness beyond measure that we are letting you know that Walter (Wally) has taken his final journey Home.
There to greet Dad at his new home with open arms is Berva, his wife and the love of his life, Wally’s Dad and Mum, Vic and Lillian, his brother Jack Kadwell. Wally’s parents’ in-law William and Mildred Davis, his sister in- law and brother in-law Donelda and William (Bill) Morris, as well as his friend and mentor Jack Tait are also there to welcome him.
Left to remember Wally with love, laughter and joy is his son Doug and his daughter Susan Kadwell. Helping to keep Wally’s memory alive will be his sister in-law Gail Kadwell, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, “adopted” family members and friends.
Dad worked in various hardware stores in Cambridge for almost 70 years, the last 40 years of his career with Home Hardware. Wally was a proud member of The Probus Club of Cambridge.
Over the years Dad faithfully attended Lincoln Ave United Church, St. Johns-on-the-Hill United Church now Cedar Hill United Church where he sat on the session and church councils.
Other than his family and work Wally’s greatest joy came from listening to music, reading his morning newspaper and the too numerous to count books under the maple tree beside the pool in the backyard. An ideal day with the family would be taking a drive down along the St. Clair River visiting Corunna where Dad spent many summer days as a boy. He would tell us stories about his large extended family, and he would stop in mid sentence to take pictures of the lakers (ships) going by. (We have more ships photographs than any of Dad!)
Now “take the rest of the day off” Dad, you’ve earned it. We will be safe until we can embrace you again.
Wally’s Celebration of Life will be at Cedar Hill United Church, 241 Cedar St, Cambridge On. at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 14th. There will be visitation one hour prior to the celebration with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association.
