Michael Thomas O’Brien, 66, of Cambridge, Ontario, passed away after a long, hard fought battle on December 24, 2024. He was born into a large family on October 30, 1958, in St. Boniface, Manitoba and grew up in Alberta. Michael had a successful career in the furniture industry, where his determination and work ethic set him apart. He changed careers later in life to experience another of his passions, driving trucks where he proved he could successfully drive anything on the road.
Michael had a passion for aviation and enjoyed flying in his younger years. He was also an avid motorcyclist throughout his life. His one regret was not being able to fully enjoy his Suzuki Boulevard. Michael also developed an incredible sweet tooth the past few years. His eyes would light up at the sight of his favourite chocolate or ice cream and the look on his face was one worth remembering. Michael’s love for music was evident in his eclectic taste, as he enjoyed everything from classic rock to contemporary artists.
Michael will be remembered for his wonderful smile and sense of humour, his generosity, outgoing personality, his strength in the face of challenges and his determination to live independently as long as possible.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his two sons, Sandy (married to Tiffany) and Connor; his grandson, Bobby; and his siblings, Laurie, Maureane, Timothy, Shelagh, and Kerry. Predeceased by his sister Leslie (2001). He is survived as well by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael will be deeply missed by his family and friends and everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Friends will be received at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in the chapel at 1 p.m. and can be livestreamed at:
