Anton (Tony) Te Grootenhuis
July 17, 1964 – April 5, 2024
Anton, also known as Tony, passed away suddenly on Friday April 5th at his Augusta home at the age of 59 years. Born in Brockville, Ontario, he is well known for his stone masonry restorations in neighbouring towns, his love of trains and years of volunteer first responder/firefighter assistance.
Loving husband of 33 years to his wife Marianne [Larocque] Grootenhuis. Father to his only child Rebecca (Mark) and known as a father figure to her closest friends whom he treated as one of his own. Dear Opa to granddaughters Charlotte and Amelia whom he cherished very much.
Predeceased by parents John and Grada [nee Bosch] Te Grootenhuis and cousin Terry Bass.
Tony leaves behind brothers William and Theodore (Lorraine). Brother-in-law to Keith (Karen), Sarah MacVicar (Mark), Mark (Karen), Bruce, and predeceased by sister-in-law Roxanne McMullen. Uncle to several nephews and nieces.
Tony was a hardworking man who you could count on to be there, always lending a helping hand wherever he could. He will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Anton’s life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged.
