James Bruce Darrach, June 22 nd 1964 – January 2 nd , 2024
After a lifetime of love, adventure, and proudly taking care of his beloved family, James Bruce Darrach
passed away on January 2nd, 2024 at 59 years of age in Mallorytown, Ontario.
James leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Jody-Lynn Darrach, who will miss his steadfast presence
dearly. The absence of his strong guiding hand will be felt deeply by his two children, Madilyn Darrach
(Sam) and Joseph Darrach, who never went a day without knowing how proud he was of them. He is
survived by his father Peter Darrach and predeceased by his mother, Dorila (Doli) Darrach. He will be
missed by his siblings: Rebecca (Sam), Gabrielle, Andrew, and Peter. Last, but not least, James will be
missed (especially at dinnertime) by the family dogs, Fitzgerald and Harper, who loved hanging out with
their dad.
Our family has lost its cornerstone, but we are filled with so many good memories to help us through
this time – of trips in the trailer to Lake Placid and all across Ontario and upstate New York, days on the
lake in “Unforgettable”, endless showings of Chris Farley and Adam Sandler movies, and many countless
campfires.
James spent his career as a tenacious force in business development and sales and had a wonderful
career to be proud of. However, his career never got in the way of taking his family on adventures. He
was often the “man behind the camera”, a man of few (and usually comedic) words, and one to keep his
circle small. But if you were in that circle, you can count yourself as one of the lucky ones because there
are few people more fiercely dependable and supportive than James.
Interment and Celebration of Life to be planned by his family at a later date. The family is grateful to the
Brockville Fire Department and the wonderful first responders. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family
asks for donations in James’ name to the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network, as one of James’ simple
joys was feeding and caring for the white-tailed deer (his “ladies”) that lived around his treasured home
in Mallorytown.
