On his own terms, Brian passed away at the Brockville General Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) peacefully in the early hours of Monday, October 9th, 2023.
Brian was an elementary school teacher until his retirement in 2010. He was beloved by his students and their parents alike.
He was also a celebrated local artist, creating dozens of breathtaking oil and acrylic paintings.
As well, Brian taught art technique to local children and adult art enthusiasts in Colborne, Ontario for over 10 years.
Brian was born in England but emigrated to Canada with his parents in 1958, taking up residence in Toronto, Ontario.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Elizabeth (nee Duffy) Reid.
Mourning Brian’s passing are his partner, Jef, as well as his close friends Jillian Stelling, Lincoln Mulcahy and Jonathan Mboma. He will also be sorely missed by Jef’s family members (Gaye Keep and Bonnie Rivers).
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to the compassionate staff at Brockville General Hospital, as well as the dedicated and wonderful staff of the Kingston General Hospital Cancer Centre.
Cremation has taken place. Per Brian’s wishes, there will be no formal celebration of his life but our hopes are that all will remember him as a beautiful, kind and funny friend and partner.
In lieu of flowers or cards, Jefre asks that donations be made to the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care unit where he spent his final days being cared for by wonderful staff and support workers.
