It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Irene (nee Moore), at the age of 86 on September 21, 2024. She leaves behind her faithful husband of 63 years, Michael. Irene will be remembered lovingly and always by her son Robert Phillips (Janice) and daughter Susan Hutchison (David). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Mitch & Kendra Phillips and Sydney & Max Hutchison as well as other close relatives Orland Harrison, Sandra Moore, Anne Janzen (Mark), Margaret Eaves (Brian), Debbie Nicholson (Grant) and Kim Maguire (Bill). Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Minnie (Brydson) Moore, sister Sheila (Jim) Sturmer, sister Jean (Art) Hughes, brother Bill Moore and sister-in-law Pat (Harrison).
Irene was an active member of Greenbrier Presbyterian Church. Over the years, she volunteered in many ways, knit hundreds of teddy bears for charity, and served with Meals on Wheels. Irene and Mike travelled many places with friends and family, much of the time in their trailer or RV, across Canada, the US, and abroad.
She will be missed and remembered for her kindness and quick wit. Irene had an ever-optimistic outlook, took great delight in completing crosswords and Sudokus, and was an avid book reader. But truly, by far, her biggest joy were her grandkids.
Family and friends will be received at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Memorial service in the Chapel on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. If wished, memorial donations to Greenbrier Presbyterian Church or the Brantford Food Bank gratefully appreciated.
