Obituary of Geertje Boon
It’s with heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother (oma) and great grandmother at the age of 87, on July 17, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
Gerda is survived by her children Astrid (John), Robert ( Shosh), Maurice (Tracy), Daniel (Irene). Her grandchildren Monique (Chris), Stephen (Virginia), Alan, Sophia, Nicole (Matt), Christine (Steve), Anthony, Stephanie, Alex, Danielle (Lucas) and Bridgette(Brad) Great grandchildren, Brysen, Eva, Audrey, Esmee, Ada and Andy. Gerda is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Cornelis Boon.
Gerda, 5th of 8 children, was born in the Netherlands and together with her husband and 4 children came to Canada and worked hard to achieve a good life in Canada. Gerda spent many years making tiffany lights, worked as a crossing guard and also provided home daycare. Gerda loved to travel and brought joy to all our trips across North America. Gerda loved spending time with her family, having long conversations, and telling jokes. Gerda has brought so much love and joy to our family and will be missed.
Cremation has taken place through Northcuttelliott funeral home. A celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
