Obituary of Pam Carey
In loving memory of Pamela Anne Carey (Haddock), a cherished resident of Cedar Springs, who passed away peacefully at Chatham-Kent Hospice on July 3, 2024, at the age of 58, after a courageous battle
with cancer.
Pam was born in Chatham to RuthAnn (Cowan) and the late Ronald Haddock. She was the beloved wife of David Carey, sharing 35 years of marriage filled with love and laughter. Pam was the devoted mother to David Carey Jr (Emily) and Melissa Carey (Liban), and the loving grandmother to Easton, Everett, Isiah, and Elijah. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.
Pam touched countless lives through her diverse passions and unwavering dedication to her community. Whether she was shaking things up at the Blenheim Legion as the best bartender in town or swinging for the fences as shortstop for the Twisted Sisters, Pam brought her A-game and infectious spirit everywhere she went. Her green thumb was legendary, turning gardens into works of art and hosting the most competitive euchre nights this side of the county. She also dedicated her time volunteering at May Court of Canada, further demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of
others.
From chasing jackpots at bingo to busting moves to country tunes, Pam lived life with boundless enthusiasm. She was the heartbeat of every gathering, with a knack for making even the quietest room burst with laughter. Pam was more than just a friend; she was a fierce ally, ready to take on any challenge and defend her loved ones with a chirp and a cheer.
Above all, Pam’s love was as endless as her jokes were hilarious. Her tough exterior hid a heart of pure gold, evident in every moment she stood by her family and friends. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to shine brightly in our hearts forever.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Chatham-Kent Hospice for their exceptional care during Pam’s final days. We are also immensely thankful to the dedicated doctors and nurses at CK Hospital, who provided outstanding care throughout her stay. A huge thank you goes out to friends and family who showed up, who held torches, who held hands, who lent an ear, and who made her smile in her remaining months. This community stepped up, and we are forever grateful for your
unwavering support. Additionally, we express a heartfelt thank you to Homecare, and a special acknowledgment to Jodi Bowden, who was a constant source of support for Pam during her time of need. Pam deeply appreciated her care and compassion. Lastly, a special mention to Dr. Kate Bailey, whose unwavering support and dedication to Pam, day and night, went beyond words. Her compassion and expertise made a profound difference during this challenging time.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Pam’s life at:
McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Funeral Home, followed by burial at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Afterward, drinks in Pam’s honor will be enjoyed at the Legion in Blenheim (upstairs).
