Obituary of Joan Sinden
A resident of Chatham, formerly of Pickering, Joan Sinden passed away at Meadow Park Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the age of 89.
Born January 11, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Henry & Maud Mary (Fortune) Benson.
Joan has gone to be reunited with her late husband, Stephen Sinden (June 7, 2019).
Devoted mother of Christine Sinden of Chatham & Gary Sinden of South Carolina.
Remembered always by her grandson, Andrew Sinden.
Sister of Martin Benson (Lisa), Graham Benson (Darlene), Malcolm Benson (Judy), & the late Eric Benson (Sheila).
Missed by her nieces, Lynne, Lori, Stephanie, Heather, Ashley, & Lisa, great-nieces, Meghan, Sydnee, Ellie, Hilary & Regan, nephew, Ryan and great-nephews, Alex, Evan, Owen & Liam.
Joan was born in Hartlepool, England and immigrated to Canada in 1966 with her husband and two children. Settling in Napanee, making their way to Chatham, London, Oshawa, Pickering and back to Chatham for the last several years. Joan enjoyed her many years working at Rosebank Animal Hospital in Pickering, working with pet adoption, & dog agility events with her three golden retrievers. She loved spending her time gardening, crafting, knitting, and socializing with people at her house.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Blenheim Community Village and most recently, Meadow Park Nursing Home for their continuing care and compassion during Joan’s time with them.
In keeping with Joan’s wishes, burial has taken place.
In memory of Joan, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society.
