Obituary of Jeanie Havens
Havens: Jeanie Julia (née Dejonghe) –
A former resident of Kent Bridge, Jeanie Havens passed away at the Riverview Gardens on October 27, 2023 at the age of 87.
Born in Chatham, Jeanie was the daughter of the late Firmin and Anna (née Horak) DeJonghe.
Beloved wife of the late Lucien Havens (2004).
Dear mother to Robert Havens (Cheryl), Richard Havens (Nancy). Proud grandmother to Kyle (Haylee), Jill, Jocelyn (Kyle), Brett (Shae-Lynn), and Jenna (David); great-grandmother to Bennett, Emery and Haven.
Sister to Marie (Joe) Korpan and Firmin (Diane) Dejonghe. Sister-in-law to Jack Ternoey Predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Ternoey, Margaretha (Adolf) Kucera, Bertha (Francis) Allemeersch.
Jeanie will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Jeanie was a retired teacher with St. Clair Catholic School Board. She started her teaching career in Windsor, taught in Blenheim and retired as a favourite teacher to many at St. Michaels School in Ridgetown. Jeanie will forever be remembered by her family for her love and gift of music. She could play the piano by ear and had a beautiful singing voice.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at St. Michaels Church, Ridgetown at 11:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Jeanie to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity would be appreciated by the family.
