Obituary of Russell Donald Stewart
April 29, 1959 – November 27, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell “Rusty” Stewart at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Rusty was predeceased by his parents, Russell Stewart Sr., and Mary Stewart (Scott). He is survived by his brothers, Danny Smith (Sandra) and Patrick Smith. Rusty was a proud uncle to Stephen Smith, Robin Harris, Sherry Smith (Ron), Tanya Smith (Sean), Sheldon Smith, Nicole Smith, and Grant Smith, and a beloved cousin to Jerret and Curtis Stewart (Michelle), a cherished nephew of Pearl Dwhytie (Graham), and an amazing cat dad to Bandita for 22 years.
Rusty will be remembered for his infectious laughter and the joy he brought to everyone he met. He was the life of the party and lived life on his own terms. Rusty will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Brechin and a celebration of life at the Brechin Legion, will be held with date and details to be announced at a later time.
