Obituary of Beverly Antoinette Houle
Beverly Antoinette Houle resident of Hythe, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, at the age of 81 years.
Beverly was born right after Christmas on December 26, 1942, to George and Isabel Houle, in Meadow Lake, SK. She was the oldest of four siblings. The family moved to Hines Creek, AB, where George and Isabel worked in the bush. Her mother cooked for the men and her father logged. Isabel and George then went on to open a store and a café.
Beverly spent her early childhood at the convent in Rycroft, AB before starting school in Hines Creek. After graduating high school, she married and moved to Worsley, AB, where she welcomed her first son Arthur in 1961, daughter Cindy in 1962, son Buck in 1969, and finally baby Connie in 1971.
Beverly had a green thumb. She loved gardening, putting in her flower beds, and planting her tomatoes, and trees. She especially enjoyed watching the birds eat out of her bird feeders. She loved sports and was an avid baseball and basketball player in high school. Beverly’s favorite pastime was curling and playing in the bonspiels. Later in life when she was unable to play anymore, she would still watch curling on television every year right up to the end, she never missed a game. The biggest passion in Beverly’s life was sewing. She was an outstanding seamstress. She could make curtains, dresses, skating outfits, you name it and she could make it! She even had her sewing station in the attic. Beverly was a devout Catholic and her faith in the Lord was unmatched. She loved her family with all her heart, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.
When she moved to Grande Prairie, AB, she worked at the Auction Mart and when she later moved to Hythe she worked at the seniors home until retirement.
She will be missed by her sons: Arthur, and Buck; daughter Cindy; sister Valerie; grandchildren Erin, Abby (Chance), Jacey, Rancher, Bliss, and Buck Jr.; great-grandchildren: Stetli, Steely, Sawyer, Chloe, Naveah, and Arliss.
Beverly was predeceased by her parents Isabel and George Houle, daughter Connie, brothers Ronnie and Boyce, grandson-in-law Clark Horseman, great-granddaughter Maddi-Lynn Frazer, and daughter-in-law Faye Peters.
