Obituary of Bennie Everton
Bennie Everton was born in Hythe, AB, on January 9, 1930, and passed away peacefully at the Prairie Lakes Hospice in Grande Prairie on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the age of 94 years.
Bennie met his wife Audrey Hanson while attending high school in Grande Prairie, and the two were married on November 8, 1952. He spent his entire life on the farm, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, and where he planted and harvested his 70th and final crop in 2020.
Bennie leaves to mourn his passing his children Rob (Gisela) Everton, Linda (Harvey) Pearson, Sherry (Bill) Nasedkin, and Coleen Everton; his grandchildren Ross (Sheri) Pearson, Darren Pearson, Craig (Andrea) Pearson, Kelsey (Andy) Attard, Brent (Jessica) Everton, Darla (Brendon McNeil) Everton, Brian Everton, Evert (Carla Ramunno) Nasedkin, and Taran Nasedkin; and his great-grandchildren Samantha & Emily Pearson, Signe & Quinn Pearson, Bode & Jasper Pearson, Erica & James Attard, Arlo, Lane & Maren Everton, and Gemma McNeil. He will also be greatly missed by his sister Margaret (Herman) Stamp, a large extended family, and many longtime friends and neighbours.
Bennie was predeceased by his loving wife Audrey, parents Ross and Retta Everton, brother Don Everton, sisters Joan (Lawrence) Kirby and Betty (George) Wiens, parents-in-law Olaf and Guro Hanson, and brother-in-law Ken Hanson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Crowe for his many years of excellent care as Bennie’s family physician. We also very much appreciate the more recent care and compassion provided to Bennie by the staff at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre, Beaverlodge Home Care, and the North Zone Palliative Care Team.
A celebration of Bennie’s life will be held at Valhalla Lutheran Church in Valhalla Centre, Alberta, at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
