38 Years of Age
Deceased August 22, 2024
At home in Wasaga Beach, Rachel experienced a fatal blood clot that morning.
Rachel endured schizophrenia for over 14 years. She was a prolific writer. Through her Journal entries, she explicitly asked for cremation, a small immediate family only gathering to celebrate her life, and to have her ashes scattered in an undisclosed location in the beautiful Georgian Bay area.
Rachel was beautiful beyond words. Her tenderness, compassion, and love of family aided her in her daily struggles to find hope, and in her own words, “…to find the light within herself.”
She passed in the loving arms of her Father and Mother. The family, her Mother Mary, her adored brother Matthew, and her Father Joe, will miss her deeply, but find solace in knowing that her daily struggles have ended. Her light will shine forever brightly in their hearts.
The family wish to express their sincere thanks to the Wasaga Beach Fire Department, the County of Simcoe Paramedics and the Wasaga Beach Detachment of the OPP for their timely arrival and persistent efforts to revive Rachel. Also, to her Family Doctor, Anne Engell, the incredible staff of the “Collingwood ACT Team, CMHA Simcoe” for their unyielding support over the past years. They became family.
