It is with broken hearts that the family of David Philip Stewart announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his family and close friends at Hospice North Hastings on Friday, July 19th, 2024 at the age of 66 following a very difficult battle with cancer and with Parkinsons. Dave Stewart, beloved husband and best friend of Connie (Rout) Stewart for 46 years, loving and devoted father of David (& Sarah Gatchell) Stewart of Birds Creek and beloved “billet Dad” to Jason Arnott of Dallas, Texas who lived with Dave, Connie and David in Whitby. Dave will be deeply missed by his mother in law, Phyllis Rout (& the late Victor Rout), by his brother in law Wayne Rout (& Ann Todt) and by his very close friends with whom he and Connie instantly bonded with, Doug & Dianne Evans, all of Bancroft. Dave is survived by his parents, John and Sonya Stewart and by his sisters, Sandra (& Chris) of Woodstock and Heather (& Norman) of Oshawa. He was predeceased by his only brother, Brian. Born and raised in Oshawa, Dave was employed in the I.T. Department of Hewlitt-Packard for 38 years and retired as part of their management team. He and Connie relocated to the Bancroft area in order to be closer to their son, David and have made it their home, having enjoyed many happy times here. Dave will be remembered for his love of golf and hockey and anything sports related and played in the G.M. salary leaque in Oshawa. Dave also convened the Port Perry Minor Hockey Tyke league when he and Connie lived there. Dave and Connie loved spending their summers at their summer home in Hastings and going on the many trips and outings with Doug and Dianne. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Neuman Family Funeral Horne. In keeping with Dave’s requests, cremation has taken place.. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Hospice North Hastings, the Bancroft Bible Chapel or to the Bancroft Hospital in memory of Dave.
