It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Sam Vanderlinden, at his home on October 13th, 2023 at the age of 69 years. Forever and always loved and missed by his wife Alma Vanderlinden (nee Bell). Dear father of Carole Ferguson, Joseph Ferguson (Rhonda), Tara Vanderlinden (Bram Schouten), Nina Vanderlinden (Adam Massey), Candace Vanskiver (Jed Ykema), Philip Vanderlinden (Chantelle) and Joe Henry (Adonica). Loving Opa of Brianna & Alexis MacMillan, Shawn, Alison, and Joey (Ferguson), Finn Vanderlinden, Zoey & Pace Massey, Lacy Ykema, Logan & Emma Vanderlinden, Austin, Sophia & Arya Trebinskie, Maddy, Sophie, Maximum & Felix Henry. Special brother of Pieter Vanderlinden, Garry Vanderlinden (Jane), Corky Vanderlinden (Connie), James Vanderlinden (Shelly), and Nick Vanderlinden (Chantal). Predeceased by two sisters, Fya VanIterson & Ria Vanderlinden. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Bev Smith (Noble), Audrey Botsford, Nancy Campbell (Steve), Gerald Bell (Judy), Leona Bell, Linda Bell, Sharon Halliday (John), David Bell (Virginia), John Bell (Jill), Marilyn Leeder (Larry), Ron Bell (Mary Lynn) and Dan Bell (Cheryl). Sam will be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Janice (nee VanDusen), his parents Pieter Vanderlinden and the former Maria Mulder and also four brothers-in-law, Lawrence Bell, Jim Bell, Jim Smith and John Botsford.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Judson Funeral Home Athens, on Thursday October 19th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Athens Christian Reformed Church on Friday October 20th, at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery, Oak Leaf. Luncheon to follow at the Athens Christian Reformed Church Hall. For those wishing to make a donation, The Joshua Bates Centre, Maple View Lodge or the Heart & Stroke Foundation, will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
