August 26, 1934 – March 19, 2024
It is with sadness that we announce that Joyce Harris passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday March 19, 2024 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Melvin (Mev) Harris (November 2, 2011). Dear sister of Rachel Stokes (late Gerry), Lorne Bretzlaff (Jo Anne), Roy Bretzlaff (Steward), Mel Bretzlaff (Marion) and Gale Emmerson. Dear sister-in-law of Claire Moore, Vi Robitaille and Jean Zimmerling (Clarence). Will be missed by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Jean Evenson (late Ken) and brother Lennis Bretzlaff (late Myrtle) (Sharron). Joyce’s roots trace back to Thorne, Quebec, as the daughter of the late Herman and Helena (Zimmerling) Bretzlaff. Her professional journey included roles at the Journal, where she specialized in Classified Ads, and later, she assumed a managerial position at the Granite Curling Club in Ottawa. Her many activities included pastel painting, bridge, curling and family get togethers. Joyce’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior where visitation will be held Tuesday March 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will follow at the Boyce Chapel at 12:00 noon. Reception to follow at the Boyce Reception Centre. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens, Ottawa. In memory of Joyce, a donation may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Arnprior or the Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors at Home Program.
