Bernsee, Anna Elisabet
Anna Elizabet Bernsee, 97 years old, of Grimsby, Ontario, died June 24, 2024 peacefully at Deer Park Villa. She was born on October 25, 1926 to Anna (nee Linke) and Rudolf Kossagk in Sonnewalde, Germany. She was married to Wolfgang Bernsee. They immigrated to Canada in the mid fifty’s with their one child, Gabriele Bernsee. Starting their lives as Canadians, Anna found employment as a housekeeper. She was fortunate to work for some wonderful Hamilton families, such as the Sherman’s of Dofasco. Quickly she became the best housekeeper on Amelia Street. Anna called Dundas home. She loved to travel, was a wonderful cook and an avid baker. She is survived by daughter, Gabriele Lees, her granddaughter, Lori Negrinotti (Dan Negrinotti) and grandson, Dale Gillmor. Great grandmother to Olivia, Aidan, Hailey, Karlee and Brooklynn. Aunt to Ann Gret and Ralf Klinder; sister-in-law to Waltraud Kossagk (all of Germany). Predeceased by parents, Anna and Rudolf, husband Wolfgang and siblings Magdalena, Rudi, Margot and Walter.
We would like to thank all of the beautiful staff at Deer Park Villa. Thank you for your outstanding care, compassion and friendship. She will be dearly missed. But just last week, she mentioned to Olivia “we will dance again one day”.
