Passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 23rd at Matthews House Hospice at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (Ted) Edward Hay (2010). Loving mother of her two daughters Patricia Gruber (Chris) and Kathy Rodwell (Ken). Dearly loved grandmother of Kevin, David, Ryan and Tyler. Forever in the heart of her surviving brother, Clifford Leggett.
Doris was born and raised in Burk’s Falls, Ontario and was the youngest of 13 siblings. Doris had this infectious smile and laugh that would light up a room. She was a fun-loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She absolutely loved being together with her family and playing board games with her grandchildren, enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and going out for lunch and tea with her daughters. Every month she looked forward to a group birthday dinner outing with her friends where many laughs were had. She was a member of the St. John’s United Church Women’s group in Alliston and will be greatly missed by these ladies. She loved country music and some of her favorites were Charlie Pride, Alan Jackson, and Johnny Reid.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at W. John Thomas Funeral Home, 244 Victoria Street East, Alliston Ontario on Wednesday May 1, 2024, 10am – 11am. Funeral Service immediately following the visitation 11am – noon. Reception 12pm – 2pm. As an expression of sympathy in memory of Doris, donations can be made to Matthews House Hospice
