Sylvia’s Obituary
ROBERTS, Sylvia Janet – age 81, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2024 in Yarmouth. Born on March 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lily (Burnett) Gray.
Sylvia graduated as a CNA from Camp Hill Veteran’s Hospital, Halifax in 1962. She worked at the Queen Mary Hospital in Montreal and Ontario until returning home to work in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She retired in 2003. Sylvia loved to help people in need, and often volunteered at the soup kitchen or The Meadows. She was adherent to the Carleton United Baptist Church until 2015, later joining the Temple Baptist Church after moving back to Yarmouth.
Sylvia is survived by her sons, Allen Roberts, Wainwright, A.B.; and Craig (Marina) Roberts, Lloydminster, A.B.; grandchildren, Jordan (Desarai) Roberts, Leduc, A.B.; Taylor Roberts, Lloydminster, A.B.; great grandchildren, Leland and Levi, Leduc, A.B.; Clarence, Lloydminster, A.B.; brothers, Graydon (Elaine) Gray, East Kemptville, N.S.; sister-in-law, Margaret Gray, East Kemptville, N.S.
Besides her parents, Sylvia is predeceased by her loving husband, Clarence Roberts; son in infancy, Leland; and brother, John Gray.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. A private graveside service for family and friends will be held on September 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carleton Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Carleton Fire Hall following the service. Donations in memory of Sylvia may be made to the Temple Baptist Church.
