Patricia’s Obituary
NICHOLSON (nee Becher), Patricia “Pat” Aimee – passed away at the Meadows Home for Special Care in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on September 23, 2023. She was born April 20, 1936 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Margaret and Henry Becher.
Pat is survived by her children, William (Rose) Thunder Bay, Ontario; Heather (Dennis) Arcadia, Nova Scotia; Kenneth (Diane) Sarnia, Ontario. Cherished Grandma to six grandchildren; Matthew, Courtney, Destiny, Nolan, Vaughan and Brittany. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Drew, Brian, Paddy and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert; her brother Jack.
Pat grew up on a farm on Last Mountain Lake near Silton, Saskatchewan. She had a wonderful childhood on the farm attending the local one room schoolhouse. The family moved into Silton in her teen years where she attended High School and became a certified lifeguard. On completion of school, she went to a local college and then to work until meeting her future husband. She met Bob in Vancouver, BC in 1957 and were married in May, 1959.
Pat moved from Saskatchewan to Vancouver where she worked until starting their family. Bobs work took them to Ontario in 1971 where she stayed home until her youngest went to school. She then decided to go to work and got a job at Aurora Public library which was very fitting as she was an Avid Reader. Pat was never idle as she loved to cook, garden, draw and most of all spend time with her family. She was often looking after the family on her own as Bob travelled a lot. Pat loved music but in later years nothing compared to the love she had for her grandchildren. She was destined to be a grandma and just cherished the time she spent with each of her grandchildren. Unfortunately, in her later years Pat suffered with Alzheimer’s but music was her comfort.
Pat will be missed by her family. The family would like to thank the staff at The Meadows for the excellent care given to Pat during her time there. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium Yarmouth. No visitation or service by request.
