Hilda’s Obituary
Hilda Leona Gloade – age 96, passed away at Nakile Home for Special Care, November 9, 2023 surrounded by the love of her daughter and her Nakile family. Born May 16,1927 in Melbourne to the late Joseph & Mildred (Fitzgerald) Gaudet.
First and foremost, she was a devoted and loving Mother and Grandmother.
In the 1950’s along with her husband they owned and operated Sam’s Taxi of which she was a driver. After his death she went on to work at Dominion Textiles for 20+ years until it closed. Her hands were always busy praying with her rosary or doing word search. Her passion showed in her crocheted dollies and afghans, her quilting and knitting. She enjoyed picking blueberries and strawberries, and made the best jam. She took great pride in her housework and was a meticulous housekeeper. She never missed Friday night WWF wrestling.
This beautiful soul will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Samuel Gloade & later in life by her partner Anthony Hubbard. Sisters Mary (Fred) Muise, Mable (Robert) James. Grandson Gary Hurlburt Jr. and special nephew Brad Hubbard.
Survived by daughter Debra (John) Gloade, Gardner’s Mill; Grandson Michael (Teresa) Hurlburt, Calgary; Sister, Lavina Cleavland; Sisters-in-law, Madeline Moulaison, Mary Rose Muise; brother-in-law, George (Millie) Hubbard.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Yarmouth. There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose’s Co-Cathedral on Friday, November 17th, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Henry officiating. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
Family flower’s only. Memorial donations may be made to Nakile Home for Special Care Recreation.
The Family would like to thank the staff at Nakile for their kind and compassionate care they gave Hilda (mom) during her stay.
