Gerald Peter LeBlanc
January, 25 1939 – July 16, 2024
Age 85 of Morris Island, passed away on July 16, 2024 at home. Born on Morris Island he was the son of the late Georgie and Anna (Surette) Leblanc.
Gerald was a lobster fisherman for most of his life and owned Gerald LeBlanc Wire Traps and JESS Fisheries. Gerald retired from fishing at the age of 58, but retirement was short lived as he picked apples on Wallace Brothers Farm for 28 years after his “Retirement”.
Gerald was well known for his story telling as well as all volunteering he did for his community, the Canadian Cancer Society and his church. Gerald was also recognized by Saint John Ambulance as a hero for saving the lives of two people. He enjoyed hunting especially deer hunting and cooking the family gathering meals.
Gerald leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Alice (Frotten); his three daughters, Janice (Howard Prime), Sharon (Arley Spinney) and Marlene (Brent Surette). Papa also leaves behind his many grand children and great grandchildren; his brothers, George, Lawrence, Vernon and Milton; sisters Gladys, Evelyn and Betty.
Gerald came from a large family and was predeceased by his parents, Georgie and Anna; a son, deceased at birth, Peter Gerald; as well as a sister, Bernice Muise; brother, Arthur.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-de-Ruisseau, Father Albenié d’Entremont officiating.
