George’s Obituary
George Raymond D’Eon
March 18, 1948-February 1, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce that George D’Eon passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
George was born March 18, 1948, and grew up in Yarmouth NS and is survived by wife, Sheila D’Eon (Kelly); his mother, Vivian D’Eon; sons, Mike, Timothy (Amanda); two grandchildren, Maggie and Gus; his step grandchildren, Cole and Eizah; his brothers, Charles, Brian (Louise); his sisters, Janet Murphy (d. Junior), Gladys Thibeault (d. Robert). George was pre-deceased by his father, Bernadin D’Eon; and stepfather, Leonard D’Eon.
In his late teens/early twenties you could often find him driving around in his Z28 Camaro. They used to say you could hear it coming towards Pubnico from 10 miles away.
George worked for Nova Scotia Power as a lineman for many years. George loved his sons immensely, and was very proud of them. He coached hockey and baseball and was admired by those who he coached. He was always a great support for his two sons in music, sports, work and whatever they were involved in. He loved his community of Yarmouth NS. He volunteered in many capacities over the years. He always enjoyed his breakfast club at the colony for coffee, chit chat with his friends, later after the colony closed, they moved to the Grand Hotel. You could always find George with his crew at Tim Hortons most afternoons.
In his retirement he spent a lot of time at Hyundai hanging out with the staff there who loved him and going on drives for them to deliver vehicles. George became “bubble poppy” to his grandchildren, Maggie and Gus. He loved his grandchildren and they were a great joy to him. George lived and loved well and was well loved. We will miss him immensely.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral Catholic Church, Yarmouth NS, Father Henry Smolenaars officiating.
