GERALD ‘GERRY’ LEBLANC
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Achille LeBlanc on January 12, 2024. He was born January 10, 1952, originally from Abram’s River, Yarmouth Co., Nova Scotia. He died peacefully surrounded by family at the Dartmouth General Hospital, at the age of 72.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, the love of a good joke, intelligent conversations on just about any topic, eye for photography, creative inventions and his love of music, especially piano and guitar. In the early 1970’s, he was the keyboardist of the Yarmouth group “Refined Rock Show”, and played many gigs around the area, including the Beacon Church and provincially at events like the Battle of the Bands. He shared his musical talents with his children, Lynette and Marcel. He loved to experiment with recipes in the kitchen, and took great pride in his culinary achievements, eventually creating the perfect spice cake.
He graduated from NSIT, Halifax, NS in 1973, having earned a diploma in Electronic Technology. He was hired by Philips Electronics in Montreal, specializing in medical diagnostic equipment installation and maintenance throughout the Atlantic Provinces, Magdalen Islands and Saint Pierre and Miquelon. He eventually became Regional Manager, based in Dartmouth, NS. He was proud to say that he and his team were the first to install an MRI machine in Nova Scotia. After the company down-sized their operations, he became a certified real estate agent with Sutton Group based in Lower Sackville.
He is survived by his children, Lynette Robinson (Lance), Bedford, NS and Marcel LeBlanc, Halifax, NS; grand-daughters, Geneviève and Charlotte Robinson, Bedford, NS; his 3 loving sisters, Annie d’Entremont (Aldric), West Pubnico, NS; Rita Doucette (Camille), North Belleville, NS; and Joanne MacDonald (Randy Cleveland), Halifax, NS; step-brothers, Benny Richard (Diane), Yarmouth, NS; Paul Richard (Susan), Wedgeport, NS; and Melvin Richard (Lois), Deerfield, NS; nieces and nephews Marc, David, Darren, Michel, Denise, Rachelle, Jeremy, and Eric; and many cousins and family throughout Canada, the United States, and Belgium. He is also remembered by his extended family in Amirault’s Hill, NS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Yvonne (DeLetter) LeBlanc of Abram’s River, NS; step-mother, Rosalie LeBlanc, Wedgeport, NS; nephew, Philippe; niece, Nicole.
Donations can be made to the Salvation Army-Halifax Social Services, 2044 Gottingen Street, Halifax, NS, B3K 3A9 (902)455-1201.
