Eugene ‘Gene”s Obituary
JACQUARD, Eugene Albert “Gene” – Age 86 of Wedgeport, passed away on June 18, 2024 in the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton. Born on February 7, 1938, Gene was a son of the late Dennis and Isabelle (Fitzgerald) Jacquard.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gertrude (Corporon) Jacquard; children, Normy (Adriane) Jacquard, Hammonds Plains; Ramona (Mike) Scott, Plymouth; Marlene (Chris) Holland, Hammonds Plains; Joey Jacquard, Wedgeport; grandchildren, Shane (Felicia) Scott, Jennna (Shane) Kaizer, Bryce (Sharon) Holland, Brandon (Sophia) Holland, Ryan Jacquard, Andrew Jacquard, Kirsten Jacquard and Emma Jacquard; great grandchildren, Scarlett Kaizer, Dawson Kaizer, Emree Holland, Annie Holland and Lily-Jean Scott; siblings, Agnes (Buddy) Boudreau, Guelph, Ontario; Ralph (Amelia) Jacquard, Amirault’s Hill.
Gene is predeceased by a child, Jackie (twin to Joey); siblings, Melbourne, Helen, Virginia, Delphis, Rubin, Jimmy, George, Tony.
Dad spent most of his working life on the sea, first by lobster fishing with his father and then worked over 35 years on several scallop draggers and finished as a cook aboard the Lady Aline and Lady Comeau. He loved his morning gatherings with the men at the Wedgeport Museum and went golfing as much as he could with friends. His golfing buddies even name one of the ponds “Gene’s Pond” after he fell in retrieving his ball.
Dad was a kind-hearted gentleman but a true jokester too. Playing cards was his passion by first teaching his kids cribbage and then loved a good game with family and friends. Family gatherings were always his favorite times. Dad was also a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Both visitation and funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home in Wedgeport. Memorial donations in Gene’s memory may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund, Wedgeport Cemetery or Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac.
