It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Stephen James Keddy, 62, of Upper Stewiacke.
Steve was caring, humble and kind. He was larger than life, creative, a unique individual who was a Jack-of-all-trades and never missed the opportunity to entertain. But more than anything we loved his big heart, which shone through in everything that he did. He was our proud patriarch and loved nothing more than get-togethers, where he was surrounded by his large and extended family. Steve moved to his parents property in Meadowvale, where he started a family farm, which he has expanded over the years. From there he branched into carpentry, where examples of his artistry can be seen throughout the community and beyond. In 2011, he was honoured to have been named ‘Woodlot Owner of the Year’ for his forestry management practices. He was always a motorcycle enthusiast, which led to many adventures. Steve was proud to be a long time member of the Upper Stewiacke Volunteer Fire Department, where he instilled passion in the future generations of firefighters, through his juniors program. In the last decade he enthusiastically embraced the Masonic Journey that he was traveling through. Steve’s level of commitment and involvement in the lodge could never be doubted.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann White. His children, Jeremiah (Erin), Jacob (Andrea), Carrie (Roddy) and Cassie (Darcy). Stepdaughters, Emma (Jeremy), Lily (Sean), Desiree (Joey), Samantha (Mitchell) and his 22 grandchildren. His siblings, Margaret (Monty), Charlie (Doris) and Doug (Nancy) along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Helen (Bent) Keddy, his brothers Robert and Gordon and sister Marion.
His funeral service will be held in Upper Stewiacke Fire Hall on Tuesday, October 1st at 3:00pm, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Steve would wish for you to instead spend quality time with your family.
