Swift, Ada Good – Age 95 of Stewiacke passed away peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on May 27, 2024. Born in Montreal, Ada was a daughter of the late James and Margaret Glencross.
As a young woman she bravely set off on her own to find work in London, England where she worked as a bank teller until she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Swift. The newlyweds then returned to Montreal where they raised their family until moving to Nova Scotia in 1970.
After settling in Stewiacke, she became a member of various groups and organizations over the years, Cobequid Twirlers Square Dance club, Willowbend Seniors Club and the Stewiacke Garden Club to name a few. In her spare time, she also enjoyed knitting, dancing, gardening, Halloween and most especially hugs.
Ada is survived by her daughter, Lynn Newton (Jimmy) of Truro; her granddaughter, Melissa Logan (Layton) of Fall River; as well as her sister, Eileen Kersulis of Brantford, ON; sister in-law, Gillian Swift of High Wycombe, England. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Kenneth Swift; son, Eric Swift; step-mother, Ellen Glencross; sister, Betty Gilmour; brothers-in-law, Edward Kersulis, Gordon Gilmour and Roger Swift.
Cremation has taken place.
Private family service to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
