Obituary for
J. Wayne Lattie
With heavy hearts we post the obituary of Joseph “Wayne” Lattie. Wayne passed away in the early morning of Friday, August 30, 2024, at the age of 78 years in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro after spending the night before celebrating with his wife and family, their 55th wedding anniversary. He was determined that he would celebrate, keeping track of the date – and he did.
Wayne had a personality which drew friends. Our house was full of love and laughter from work mates, friends of our children, and a feeling of home. He was devoted to his family, always willing to listen to and help with any concerns. He loved to feed visitors and was known for his egg rolls from coast to coast and as far away as Indiana.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Agnes (McCready) Lattie; his daughters, Andrea Waterman and her husband, Gary, of Antigonish, Jodi Gorall of Indiana, and her partner, David Swartz, Sheri McGrath and her husband, Sean of Airdrie; his son, Jeffrey Wayne Lattie. He was the grandfather and great-grandfather of Danielle and Darren Waterman, Brianna Waterman (Ryan Sloan); grandchildren, Emery, Rosa, and soon to be new great granddaughter, Primrose (Tori) currently of Boston, Tyler Lattie, Hayden Gorall and Sophia Gorall of Indiana, Jade ( Cody) Churches of Airdrie, Brody, Graysen, Ava and Scarlett (Airdrie),great grandchildren Danielle, Gannon and Braeleigh, Daniel, Trinity, Gabe, Preston, Emmit, (their mother), Michelle, of Truro; brothers, Ron Lattie, Frank Lattie and wife, Deborah; brother, John Kenney; brothers-in-law, Chuck McCready, Alfred (A.T,) McCready and Jim McCready; sister-in-law, Wanda Wootton, Brampton, Ont. Also his grand puppy, Milo, who loved to tuck his grandpa in at nights including visiting him at the hospital. He would lie in front of Wayne’s bedroom door at night…listening…
Wayne was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Pearl Lattie; his father, “Joe Chow’; brother, Gerald Lattie and only sister, Lillian (Lattie) Cochrane.
Special thanks to the dialysis ladies and gents and his porter, Jackie, who were so wonderful. He loved you all. The girls who were his night caregivers, Trina, Melanie, and Rhonda …his “angels” who let me sleep. Coleen and Linda, thank you for keeping him laughing in the Infirmary, so happy to have you living near to give him company. You warmed his heart … with the treats too!
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the CEHHC Dialysis Unit.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 1pm until time of funeral service at 2pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with the Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Reception to follow. Webcasting of the service will begin at 1:58pm (ADT).
