Rushton, Carolyn Ruby – Age 77, Londonderry Station / Truro. It is with great sadness and much love that we say good-bye to our dear sister, aunt and friend, who passed away on March 5, 2024, in Cedarstone Enhanced Care Nursing Home, Truro, NS.
Carolyn was born on April 14, 1946, in Westchester, NS. She was a daughter of the late L. Eldon and Ida Rushton.
She is survived by sister, Jean (Carl) MacDonald, Truro Heights; sister-in-law, Marilyn E. Rushton, Murray Siding; nephews, Donnie, Deverne and Rodney Rushton and Robert Clusiaux and nieces, Donna-Jean Bauer and Heather Buchanan as well as several cousins.
Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her brother, Gerald D. Rushton and sister, Myrna Clusiaux.
She enjoyed her years working at different greenhouses in Oxford, Truro and her most recent one being Stokdijk Greenhouses Ltd. in Beaver Brook, NS. She loved to listen to “the good old country music” and the many trips she made over the “mountain.” She found much pleasure in both. She loved her many pets that she had over the years and found much companionship with each one. Carolyn also liked to collect key chains and had many in her collection. She loved to go fishing with all her gear and would spend many afternoons sitting on the river banks.
Carolyn, in May 2023, gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized, what a glorious day it was for us all. She was a member of Truro Heights United Baptist Church.
We would like to say thank you to her two special friends, Connie Stewart and Donna Johnson, who came faithfully to sing and play guitar for her in her room at Cedarstone each week. We know Carolyn so enjoyed it.
Thank you to Cedarstone for the care and kindness that you showed to Carolyn and also to us, her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester SPCA, Truro Heights United Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
By Carolyn’s request, there will be a graveside service on Friday, June 7th at 1pm in Eagle Hill Cemetery, Westchester Station. Rev. Connie Stewart officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS.
