Memorial Donation
Sarah Catherine “Cathy” MacInnis passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 5th, 2023 surrounded by the love of her daughters and family.
Born a military baby in Goose Bay, Labrador on St. Patrick’s Day of 1958, Cathy was the loving daughter of the late Alex Hughie and Beckey (MacNeil) MacInnis.
Cathy, a vibrant soul, embraced life between Nova Scotia and Ontario, spending her most recent years where she was her happiest, in Cape Breton.
Her passion for her work at Guelph General Hospital was matched by her ability to forge meaningful connections wherever she called home. With a zest for life, Cathy relished spending time with family and friends, often indulging in lively outings, from “be bopping” around shopping, to delightful breakfasts. Possessing the gift of gab and a fantastic sense of humor, she brought laughter into every moment she was involved in. Cathy’s love was boundless, extending wholeheartedly to her children, grandchildren, and even her cherished fur grandchildren, as she consistently expressed her immense pride in them.
Mom is survived by and will sincerely be missed by her children, Gillian (Josh) Alexander and Shavaughn (Steve Lozer), Grandchildren Courtney (James MacDonald), Owen, Noah and Isaac. Great-grandchildren, Norah, Isla and Leah (Frankie). Nana will be sincerely missed by her fur grandbabies, Ecko, Jager, Stanley & Dulce.
Also left to mourn her are her siblings; Margie (Roger) Harrison, Murreen (Joe) Simms, Dannie (Sheila), Donnie (Nancy), Cecilia (Robert) Bell, Sandy (Brenda), Mary Anne (Brian) MacIntyre and brother-in-law David Ellig. Cathy will also be greatly missed by her Aunts, Uncles, multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her sister Mary Pat Ellig, aunt Rose Marie Caron, and nephews Morgan, Logan and Ryan MacIntyre, who will be there to welcome her with the same love she so willingly gave us.
“The finest years I ever knew, were all the years I had with you”
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 8th, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Angels Church, Glendale, Cape Breton, with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Family and friends are welcome at the Parish Hall following the service to share memories of Cathy. Burial at a later date.
