Obituary
Lloy, Gordon Seamour – 91, of Oxford Junction, passed away peacefully in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst, on November 6th, 2023. Born in Williamsdale, he was a son of the late John Harvey and Doris Margaret (Purdy) Lloy, the fifth of eight children. He met and married the love of his life, Dorothy June (Bigney) and recently celebrated 65 years together. He was a labourer, working first in the woods, then for the Cobequid Lumber Company until its closure, then for Stanfield’s Limited until his retirement. He was also the Fuller Brush Man in the evenings and on weekends in the early years. Gordon was also well known for his green thumb and could be seen selling his produce from the back of his truck in both Oxford and Springhill until very recent years. Besides gardening, he enjoyed music, cards and a good laugh, and was known for his generosity to friends and people who would become friends. Left to grieve are his wife, Dorothy; brother, David (Laura); sisters, Eva (John) Orr; Shirley (Al) Sherriff; sister-in-law, Isee; daughter, Anna Marie (George), Cole Harbour; 2 granddaughters; 3 bonus grandchildren; a great-grandson; and 5 bonus great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Eric (Eleanor), Spurgen (Lottie), Hance, Vernon (Joan); son, John Gordon; and granddaughter, Emily, at birth. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, November 11 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. A committal will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Williamsdale United Church Cemetery or charity of choice.
