Peter’s Obituary
DION, Joseph Jules Edgar Pierre “Peter” ~ age 73, of Nictaux, NS passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton surrounded by his family.
Peter retired as a Stationary Engineer for Nova Scotia Health, he was respected for his reliability and dedication to the hospitals he worked for. He was very proud of his naval service, having joined the naval Reserves at 17 years old and then later mustered to the Regular Forces. Peter enjoyed his naval career and the adventures it sent him on until he met the love of his life Nancy Keddy while working at the Halifax Shipyard.
He was a man of great personal virtue, known for being honest, reliable, and exceptionally smart. He was an accomplished carpenter, he enjoyed diving in his youth and he loved to sing. Peter was also the best listener, always offering his ear and wise advice to those around him.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy, and his parents. He leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Jeffrey Dion (Tracey Coleman), Kingston; his sister Monique Giroux, Verdun, QC; his grandchildren, Nicholas Dion, Avonport; Nadia Dion (Joshua Goguen), Kingston; Emily Dion, Westville; and his great-grandson, Adrian Goguen; niece, Nathalie Giroux and nephew, Martin Giroux, both of Montreal QC. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army in memory of Peter’s annual contributions to the Christmas Daddies Charity.
