It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Jeanette Schmidt, 99 of Fredericton and formerly of Upper LaHave, announces her passing on Sunday, Aug 6th, 2023 at Shannex Thomas Hall in Fredericton, N. B.
Born Sept. 29, 1923 in Riverport, she was the daughter of Titus and Enid (Joudrey) Conrad.
Barbara was a faithful member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Upper LaHave where she was church organist for over 20 years. After moving to Nova Scotia from Regina, she worked side by side with her husband Walter in managing the Transcotia motel in Brooklyn, Queens County, then to retirement in Upper LaHave.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Jim (Dorita) Schmidt, Fredericton, NB; Lloyd (Anne) Schmidt, Porter’s Lake; daughter-in-law, Barbara Joan Schmidt of White Rock, B.C. , grandchildren, Kyle, Andra, Aaron, Nichlaus, Benjamin, Madeleine, Suzanne and Levon and great grandchildren Cameron, Everett, Mya, LouAnna, Melodie, Zoey, Tessa, Luca, Nico and David.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Walter and her son, David, sisters, Pauline Strong and Winnie Conrad and brothers, Harold, Arnold, Gerald and Bruce.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where a memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday Aug 12th, 2023, Rev. Paul Jensen, officiating. Interment will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Upper LaHave.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to S.P.C.A.
