William Archibald “Bill” Chapman
September 27, 1956 –
September 21, 2024
It is with heavy
hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William Archibald
“Bill” Chapman on September 21, 2024, at home in Kentville,
Nova Scotia. Bill was born in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland. He was the
son of the late William and Joyce (Shirley) Chapman. He lived a life
full of adventure, love, and curiosity.
Bill was the beloved
husband of Deborah (Robinson), his soulmate and the love of his life.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Amanda Taylor (Roderick Adam) of
Phoenix, Arizona, and Jason Taylor of Tokyo, Japan. His cherished
grandchildren, Theodore, Penelope, and Valentijn Adam, brought immense
joy to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings, Shirley (Chapman)
MacDougall, of Hamilton; Norma Chapman, of Stephenville and his
brother, John, of Calgary. As well as his nephews, James and
Christopher Charles, who held a very special place in his heart. Also,
his two adored pups, Kona and Annie, who were constant companions and
lights in his life.
A proud
ship’s captain, Bill spent much of his sea-faring career
with Irving, navigating the oceans aboard various oil tankers. His
work took him across the globe, but his love of travel extended far
beyond the professional, as he and Debi spent countless happy times
exploring new destinations together, and enjoying their second home in
Mexico.
Bill had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and
a deep passion for history (particularly the World Wars), airplanes,
and politics.
Bill’s life
was built on strong values of family, hard work and loyalty. He will
be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his dedication to his loved
ones, and his unwavering commitment to exploring the
world.
Cremation has taken
place. A celebration of life will take place on Monday, September
30th, at 2:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with
livestreaming available for those who cannot attend in person.
Reverend Maya Bevan will officiate, and burial will follow in St.
John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Church Street, Port
Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory can be made
to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or St. John’s
Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home.
Fair winds
and following seas, Captain Bill. You will be deeply
missed.
