Hazel Ann (Garby) Boylan
1942-2024
Although we are saddened by her passing, it is
a blessing that she is no longer in
pain.
The family
of Hazel Ann (Garby) Boylan announces her passing in the wee hours of
October 26, 2024, with her beloved son, Christin, by her side, in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, NS.
Hazel Ann,
daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and
great-grandmother, as well as aunt to many nieces and nephews, was the
first born of Laurie and Myrtle (Goucher) Garby, in Annapolis, on May
5, 1942. The family later moved to Kennetcook, then Clarksville, Hants
County and this was home until the move to Kentville in
1957. On November 3, 1962, she married Edwin
“Jake” Boylan.
She attended
school at Kings County Academy and Mack Business College and went on
to work at the former Canada Foods Plant in
Kentville.
A social
member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville,
she was the secretary there for many years. She was a member
of the Bethany Memorial Baptist Church in
Aldershot.
Hazel very
rarely missed bingo and also loved a good game of 45s or
crib. For many years she was a season ticket holder for the
Acadia Axemen hockey games and was a Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs
fan for as long as can be remembered!
Predeceased
by her parents, as well as her husband, Jake; daughter, Wendy; sister,
Twila Connell and brother, Leslie, she is survived by her son,
Christin; granddaughter, Bronte Hutchinson (George Harvey) and
great-granddaughter, Annie May; as well as brothers, Roy, Kamloops,
BC; John Tracy, NB; sisters, Cheryl Scott (Lester Baker), New Ross;
Kim Garby (Perry Graves), Port Williams; Lorelei Stott, Moncton, NB
and son-in-law, Gordon Hutchinson.
The family
would like to thank the medical and nursing staff on Medical A and B
at the Valley Regional Hospital for the wonderful care she received
during her stay there.
Cremation
has taken place, and a private family burial will be held in the
Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville. A celebration of life will be held from
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Meadowview
Community Centre, Meadowview. Donations in memory may be made
