Obituary of Diane Rosalee MacKinnon
Diane Rosalee (Harnish) MacKinnon of Halifax, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Gladys (Pope) Harnish. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Robert) and stepson, Brian (Debbie) Bond, granddaughters Courtney and Ally Garand, sisters, Dorothy (Sissy) Gibson and June Niederstrasser. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Thomas MacKinnon, her “Irish twin” sister, Joyce Majcan and brothers, Reginald and Ronald Harnish. Mom was a tomboy at heart, she loved fishing, hunting and gardening. She was happiest when she and Dad were in their small boat trolling around Lake Frederick for trout or stopping on the shore to pick berries. She was a hard worker and “homebody”, she put her all into everything she did from refinishing furniture for the house to maintaining her garden and property. Mom was not one to go visiting others, but she truly enjoyed visits from others at her home and was especially fond of visits from Karen and Kathy Russell. As per her expressed wishes, there will be no service or memorial. Cremation has taken place under the excellent care and direction of J.A. Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax. Special thanks to our sister-in-law Erin Jennings, Owner and Managing Director at Walkers for her care and support. Donations in memory of Diane may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
