Obituary
Henry Carlyle Brannen, of Clam Point made his final voyage on August 28, 2024, at Roseway Hospital. A well-respected man known for his expertise in the community, loving father, grandfather, companion, and humorous personality. Henry lived a life filled with tremendous passion for family and the sea. Born in Stoney Island September 26, 1928, to the late Ashley and Edith (Brown) Brannen. Married Eva Ardella (Brannen) February 2, 1952, whom he shared and grew a family with until her untimely passing November 22, 1996.
He will be forever missed and loved by children; Karen (Ronald), Alene (George), Peggy, Richard (Denise), and Brian (Krista). Grandchildren who he enjoyed visits from; Danny, Amanda, Sarah, Evan, Ryland, Tanya, Tamara, and Chris. Great grandchildren who brought many a smile; Matthew, Kennedy, Zak, Ella, Jude, Brayden, Nolan, Keaton, and Jase. He will also be dearly missed by companion of 26 years Alda Nickerson along with her children and grandchildren. Lifelong friends; Mervin Atkinson and Prince Brannen, as well as Terry Stoddard. Survived by sister Alene (Victor) and brother Alfred, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers; David, Sidney, Ernest, Douglas, Freeman and sisters; Francis and Annie. His beloved cats will miss his company and overabundance of treats.
Henry began his working life at the early age of 12. He was like many young men from the area who travelled for work to Ontario. Henry made that journey a few times and could pick up any trade quickly. The calling for home however, was much greater, where he came back to Clam Point and became a respected and hardworking fisherman until his retirement at 85 years of age. He enjoyed his time with family and close friends through the years. He was a legend in the community and was an inspiration to all who knew him, always willing to lend a helping hand. Henry was also known by his physical strength that amazed many. He always looked for the chance to joke and get a laugh out of someone.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and special staff of Roseway Hospital who were kind and helpful during Henry’s time there.
There will be a visitation held, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, on Saturday, August 31 from 6-8 pm. A private family graveside will take place.
