Obituary
Diann beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Age 76, of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, passed away at her home 49 Wrights Road Shelburne on August 29, 2024. Born December 12, 1947 in Shelburne, she was the daughter of the late Whitman and Sarah DesChamp. Diann met her husband, Doug, when he was working at RCAF Station Barrington. They were married in 1964 and travelled through-out Canada and retired at Barrington in 1983.
Diann was a Mig Mac and was the National Elder for the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples for Canada. In her role she was a member of several committees, including Justice, KCII, MMIWG2S, National Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers Law Society, Kuwiigu-neewul Engagement Services (KES). She was instrumental of getting cooperation between the Youth Council and the Elders Committee. Diann loved to garden and had her yard planted with many flowers and her vegetable plot. She was a jack of all trades being a practical nurse, an accountant, real estate agent, customer service for various Construction firms and a Certified Hydraulic Technician in Ontario. Diann was a meticulous housekeeper, loved to bake and was a wonderful cook.
Diann is survived by her husband Doug Langley, her two children; Douglas Henry William Langley, and Alana Diann Baker, and three grandchildren; Douglas Langley 4th, Meadow Baker, and Evan Baker.
Diann was predeceased by her parents, Whitman and Sarah DesChamp, as well as her adoptive parents Deblois and William Jackson, and her in-laws Henry and Olive Langley, various brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Visitation will be held Monday August 26th, 2024 at 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne. A funeral service will be held Tuesday August 27th, 2024 at 11am from Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
