It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph “Gary” Boudreau announces his sudden passing on Sunday, April 21st, 2024 at the age of 63.
Born June 9th, 1960 in Arichat, Nova Scotia, Gary was the son of the late Joseph Albany and the late Mary Evangeline (Boudreau) Boudreau.
He worked several jobs throughout his life, including 13 years at Michelin Tire, Granton, in the late 70’s and 80’s. His talents and passions, however, were in drawing, painting, singing, and playing guitar – all of which he did on the side for enjoyment to local acclaim and popularity. Later in life, he drove a school bus for East Antigonish Education Centre in Monastery and later ventured west to spend several years driving a shuttle bus for KMC in Fort MacMurray, AB. Following the 2016 wildfires, he returned to Nova Scotia and his passions. In recent years he’d developed quite a following for his paintings and in the last six months had begun singing and performing again after a hiatus from music.
Creative, charismatic, and kind, Gary loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor that charmed all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rarely seen without a large Tim Horton’s cup in hand, he loved watching hockey games and insisted that if it wasn’t country music, it wasn’t music. He passed many of these qualities, interests, talents, and passions on to his beloved children.
Gary is survived by daughter Shelby-Lynn, sons Dale, Dean, and Brayden as well as chosen son Zachary, sisters Christine (Louis Boudreau) and Donna (Francis MacLeod), sister-in-law Doreen, grandchildren Christopher and Katie, and great-granddaughter Nova, as well as his many nieces and nephews and extended family. He is pre-deceased by father Joseph Albany and mother Mary Evangeline, sisters Elaine LeParque and Edith Samson, brother Albert, and chosen son Darren Adam.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation per Gary’s request. A celebration of life and family burial will be held at a later date. Tributes, words of comfort, and memories of our loved one may be shared with the family at www.chboudreau.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pay It Forward Angel Fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd, in Arichat.
