Obituary of Alice Cameron Baxter
We, the family of Alice Baxter, are saddened to announce her sudden death following a brief illness on Monday, March 4, 2024 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born on May 20, 1941 in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Irene (Taylor) Baxter and grew up on the family farm in Addington Forks.
After completing her secretarial training in Halifax, she was employed with Maritime Tel & Tel for over thirty years. She enjoyed traveling, reading and many family members and friends were receipients of her ceramic hobby.
She retired in the early 1990’s to Addington Forks, where she built a log home on the family farm. In 2019 she moved to Parkland Antigonish where she enjoyed assisted living.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Raymond and sister Margaret Ballantyne. She is survived by brother George (Anne), Addington Forks; sisters Anna (Allan) Adams, Antigonish; Ruth Bent, Dartmouth and Clare (Johnny) Savoie, Dalhousie, NB; nieces and nephews by whom she was known as “Aunt Allie”.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in MacIsaac Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday in St. James United Church, Antigonish. Burial in St. James/St. Paul’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. James or St. David Church Fund.
